Who We Are
Toot Toot’s Kitchen was born from multiple sources of inspiration.
The Idea: My name is Ashley Higginbotham. In my career, I have been the Marketing Director of the Lafayette Bar Association, a Teacher, an Assistant Principal, and--most importantly--a wife and an aunt. I would go to work for about 9 hours a day, come home, cook dinner, eat around 7:30 or 8, and not be able to get off of the couch to help Andre--my wonderful husband--do the dishes. I was too exhausted. I had to cook, though, because eating out for every meal is unhealthy and expensive. Not to mention that I also needed lunch leftovers because it was not easy to leave school to go and get food. Andre and I, my parents, my brother, sister-in-law, and niece and nephew all live within three houses of each other. We are always eating dinner together, and it is quite often at my house. I needed meals! I began meal planning and grocery shopping for the week each Saturday and spending all day Sunday after church cooking our meals for the week. If Sundays were booked with activities with family and friends, well then we would have to go out to eat during the week or Andre would have to fire up the grill because it was too much for me to spend more hours cooking and cleaning after work. Andre and I had minimal quality time together and, let’s face it, I didn’t want to sacrifice one day every weekend cooking all day. I wanted to be with family and friends. Then one day it hit me--what if there was a place that provided the same affordable, flavorful home-cooked meals in family-sized portions that would allow us to eat properly, eat home-cooked food at home, and would give us portion sizes large enough to feed our family and have leftovers for lunch the next day? From that point on, God placed many people in my path who volunteered to help me with this adventure. It all fell into place seamlessly. We needed a name, though.
The Name: My brother and his wife have two perfect, glorious children--Emmett and Ruby. We spend as much time with them as we can. Emmett calls me Toot Toot because he couldn’t say “Tauntie” and I call him my “Toot Toot.” I love being a wife, a daughter, and a sister, but my favorite roles that I play are godmother to our amazing godchildren and that of Emmett’s and Ruby’s Toot Toot. I couldn’t think of a better name for my kitchen. The point of cooking is, after all, to make the ones you love happy and fulfilled.
Toot Toot’s Kitchen is a locally owned and operated family-style meal preparation business in Youngsville, Louisiana. It is owned and operated by Ashley Higginbotham and opened in 2018.
We lovingly cook delicious, home-cooked meals for your family. Life is incredibly hectic these days, and with extra-curricular activities, work, school, illnesses, newborns, toddlers, etc., it is tough to find time in the day to meal plan, go to the grocery store, prepare, cook, and clean up for meals every day. This lack of time often results in people eating out or not eating healthy meals. Toot Toot’s Kitchen allows you to feed your family home-cooked meals without any mom-guilt!
We provide family-sized, pre-made, affordable meals that will feed your family and—perhaps—leave you with leftovers for lunch tomorrow! These meals take minimal time to heat and give you more time to do what makes you happy with whom you are the happiest. They also minimize the number of fast-food and restaurant visits you have to make. Keep us in mind for game nights, vacation meals, and for other people! We all know someone who just had a baby, who is going through a rough time, who is battling an illness, who can no longer cook for themselves, or who simply needs a thank-you or a pick-me-up. Order meals for them from Toot Toot’s Kitchen to lighten their load!
Our meals come already cooked in an aluminum pan, ready for you to heat and serve. We want to take the stress out of your evening and fill it with happiness and conversation around the dinner table. And while at the dinner table, why not enjoy what you’re eating with no need to pull straws for who’s going to do the dishes!
